A VILLAGE has been turned into a giant canvas as part of a unique scheme involving more than 30 artists.

Llanarmon DC is playing host to the Inside Out Project until May 24, which sees artists exhibiting their work in a range of outdoor sites and exterior spaces around the village.

The scheme is the brainchild of two inhabitants of the village, Diana Baur, a NEWI fine art student, and John Swogger, an archaeological illustrator.

It was launched last Saturday at The Hand Hotel, in the village, with a musical introduction by the Mountee Band and a speech by TV personality Mavis Nicholson.

The project involves 31 artists, including staff and students of North Wales School of Art and Design, (NWSAD) Borderland Visual Arts (BVA), local professional artists and the children of Ysgol Llanarmon, led by Welsh land artist Tim Pugh.

Booklets on the artists are on view in The Hand and The West Arms, Llanarmon, and will soon be available for download from the website http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/jghsillustration
